Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center (GCRMC) is celebrating 70 years of providing exceptional healthcare in Otero County and surrounding communities. Since its inception GCRMC has been a thriving independent, safety net community hospital. In 1999 the medical center moved to the current campus and entered a shared facility agreement with Holloman Air Force Base. We now stand as the largest non-government employer in Otero county with over 1000 employees.
Medical staff recruitment is a challenge for any rural hospital. GCRMC has been successful in recruiting over 80 providers over the past 10 years. We have improved our ability to offer many of the critical specialty services to our community limiting the need to travel for healthcare services. We are pleased to receive national recognition for improved efforts in quality and service.
Exceptional Healthcare is closer than you think
In response to our Community Health Needs Assessment and the growth of our community, GCRMC has added the following services:
As we approach a new decade we are expanding our campus to include over 70 million dollars in new and expanded construction. We will open a 64,000 square foot new medical office building in February 2021. The building will also house our outpatient surgery center. We are expanding our emergency department to encompass all private rooms. Champion Cancer will expand and the current space will undergo renovations.
We never stop our search to explore new opportunities to bring quality healthcare to our community.
